Course Overview The RYA Day Skipper classroom / shore-based course is for those that have done little or no actual navigation, regardless of whether you have a lot of sailing experience or none. The course includes learning lots about Day Skipper navigation (including use of GPS and electronic charts), meteorology, the collision regulations and safety procedures. We offer a variety of different ways to take the RYA Day Skipper theory. Looking for the RYA Day Skipper Practical Course? Course Overview Before taking our RYA Day Skipper Practical Course you need to have already completed the Competent Crew Course or be at Competent Crew level plus, you need to have completed the Shore based Day Skipper course or have navigational knowledge to the level of those sailing courses. With the helpful instruction and guidance of our instructor you will learn how to skipper a vessel During the duration of the RYA Day Skipper Course in the Gillingham we will aim to visit a different marina, harbour, or anchorage each evening. Accommodation and food are on board or on land will be arranged. To get your RYA Day Skipper certificate we have options to book the practical course with either 2, 3 or 4 students on board or you can take the whole boat with up to 4 friends plus yourself. We typically welcome a mix of people attending both alone and with friends or a partner. If your friends/partner wants to do another practical course, such as the Competent Crew Course they can do it on the same boat at the same time.
